AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
Immediate aftercare
Cling wrap
- Your artist has wrapped your tattoo with cling film which is to be removed after two hours. This cling is to help stop the bleeding and keep the area protected while you make your way home. It does not need to be rewrapped.
- Once you have taken the cling film off, wash your tattoo with gentle unscented soap and pat dry, don’t rub.
- It is normal for your tattoo to bleed a little and scab over
Second skin
- Your artist has wrapped your tattoo with Second Skin, which is to be removed after 24 hours. This Second Skin is to help stop the bleeding and keep the area protected for the first 24 hours. It does not need to be rewrapped.
- When taking the Second Skin off, do so under warm running water and pull from the bottom in a downward direction, like a command strip.
- Wash your tattoo with gentle unscented soap and pat dry, don’t rub.
- It is normal for your tattoo to bleed a little and scab over.
Aftercare for the next two weeks
- Wash the tattoo in the morning and at night with unscented gentle soap. Once washed, pat dry and then apply a small amount of Vaseline, Bepanthen or Paw Paw cream.
- Ensure that this is done with clean hands and that you don’t apply too much, only a thin layer is needed - you should not be able to see the shine of the cream.
- Keep your tattoo as DRY and UNCOVERED as possible.
- No soaking the tattoo, meaning, no swimming in pools, no baths or spas, no saunas, etc. (Showering is fine!)
- While your tattoo is healing, wear loose clothing around the area and try not to sleep on it.
- Try not to touch your tattoo. If it is itchy you can slap it or lightly pat the area with clean hands in order to alleviate the itch.
- Ensure not to scratch, pick at or itch your tattoo while it is healing as this can disrupt the healing or cause an infection.
- Ensure not to get sunburnt on your tattooed area
- If you work out or partake in activities that cause sweating, wash your tattoo afterwards.
- Once the two-week healing period is over you may resume all normal activities.
- If any issues arise during healing, feel free to reach out to us
Touch ups
We offer one free touch up within the 3 month period after you get your tattoo.
Please ensure that your tattoo has fully healed before booking in for your touch up. This is usually around 3 week after getting the tattoo. If you are unsure please don’t hesitate to ask us.
Please note the touch up is only free when completed by the artist who did the tattoo and within the 3 month period. If it is after the 3 month period a small fee will be charged so we urge you to come in within the 3 month period.
Touch ups do not include additions or alterations to the original tattoo. If you would like to add or alter something please contact us.
